Hi, I read your article about the VSR90 with great favor. And while I do not consider myself a professional airbrush artist I am an artist in a different field. Also I have owned various Paachee airbrushes including “F”, “H”, “Vjr”,” VL” as well as the above mentioned VSR90 above. I purchased my VSR90 about 15 years ago when Paashe offered three cups and both needle and head/nozzle assemblies in a set. The VSR90 is a very well made instrument at seems to be design for intricate detail. And while recommendations for air pressure are suggested, one must bring the perfect balance of air follow and paint viscosity together to achieve what the instrument is capable of rendering. In short, it sounds like your paint may be a bit too thick and/or needs to be filtered to a fine consistency. After mixing well, try straining your paint threw a filter that has a mess as small as women’s pantyhose/stockings. Also, for every ounce of paint add one drop of glycerin to the paint and mix well before straining.
I use my VSR90 for inks mostly and it performs very well because inks are very thin and flow well. But when I use paint, I take extra time to mix well with a marble in a one ounce lidded container then strain.
Hopefully this helps
